Department introduction/description:

The Department of Community Medicine and Public Health (DCMPH) is one of the leading departments of Maharajgunj Medical Campus devoted to excellence in teaching-learning, research, and developing Community Medicine specialists and public health leaders through community-based learning approaches. The department has recently started a post-graduate (MD) program in Community Medicine with elective subjects in Non-Communicable Diseases, Health System Management, Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights, and Medical Education. It contributes to imparting knowledge on community medicine, public health, and research methods to undergraduate and postgraduate clinical programs. The department largely contributes to producing competent and socially responsible health professionals. It has dual responsibilities – to teach Community Medicine to undergraduate medical students and contribute to public health education.

Department vision, mission, and goals:

The Department of Community Medicine and Public Health aims to produce socially responsible and competent physicians and public health professionals willing and able to meet the existing and emerging challenges of the national and international healthcare system. MBBS and MD graduates from this department will play major roles in curative health services, preventive health services, and planning, management, and education.
