Message From Campus Chief
Dear students, guardians and well-wishers,
It is my pleasure and privilege to welcome you all to Maharajgunj Medical Campus (MMC), the pioneer healthcare profession education institute of Nepal. MMC is a constituent campus of Tribhuvan University (TU), Institute of Medicine (IOM), which was established with the aim of producing human resources for health in the country to serve its healthcare needs.
MMC was born when Tribhuvan University promoted the then “Auxiliary Health Workers School” to the status of a campus in 2029 BS (1972 AD) and named it as “Central Campus” initially. It started its endeavor by training allied health science professionals. In its continuous quest for excellence in healthcare education, it gradually expanded the number of its healthcare programs; passed through the stages of “Central Campus”, “Maharajgunj Campus” and has finally evolved into “Maharajgunj Medical Campus” in 2066 BS (2009 AD).
MMC currently conducts 8 bachelor level programs, 25+ master level programs and 11 higher-specialty/doctorate level programs in various medical, dental and allied health science streams educating and training nearly 700 health professionals in these fields every year.
MMC operates in close collaboration with Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital (TUTH), BP Koirala Lions Center for Ophthalmic Studies (BPKCLOS) and Manmohan Cardiothoracic Vascular and Transplant Center (MCVTC), which are the integral training sites for its healthcare profession students of various streams.

During its long academic journey spanning over five decades, MMC has produced countless number of competent and diverse healthcare manpower ranging from primary healthcare workers to medical super-specialists who are providing their expert services in all sectors of healthcare in this country and abroad. It is indeed a matter of great pride for me to state that the alumni of this premier institute are now the best physicians and surgeons, leading allied health science professionals, excellent public health officers, innovative scientists, inspirational academicians and outstanding entrepreneurs of the country. I feel that MMC has really made great strides in the field of healthcare education.
I would like to take this opportunity to express my heartfelt gratitude to our parent organizations Tribhuvan University and Institute of Medicine; all faculties, staff and students of MMC; and its training sites TUTH, BPKLCOS and MCVTC for their immense contribution in making MMC the center of excellence of healthcare profession education in Nepal.
I am confident that, with continuing hard work from all levels of its strata, MMC will progress further and scale greater heights in the field of healthcare profession education in the days to come.
My best wishes to all of you.
